Stop the UN Program to Delegitimize Israel

A Strategy for shutting down the UN’s anti-Israel apparatus

For more than three decades, the United Nations has pursued actions to denigrate the United States and to delegitimize Israel. Year after year, nearly 25% of the UN General Assembly resolutions adopted by roll-call are directed against Israel and are opposed by the U.S. More serious than the number of resolutions is the content of these decisions, which establish the foundation and provide the funding for a year-round, worldwide anti-Israel propaganda campaign administered by the UN Secretariat’s Division for Palestinian Rights (DPR).

Opponents of Israel recognize that the UN played a very effective role in delegitimizing the government of South Africa and overturning the apartheid regime. They are now using the UN’s anti-Israel apparatus in an effort to equate Israel with apartheid South Africa and to bring Israel down. As part of their strategy, the DPR has mobilized more than 1,000 non-governmental organizations, and encourages them to press for anti-Israel boycotts and divestment programs.

The latest outrage is the planned attempt to have the United Nations declare a Palestinian State unilaterallybypassing negotiations, and imposing the indefensible 1967 borders. Such action would constitute a grave threat to Israel, and it would not advance peace at all. It is also part of a concerted campaign to delegitimize Israel and invite sanctions and disinvestment (it is in short a clear attempt to turn Israel into the new South Africa). This is precisely the kind of pernicious mischief against Israel and against US interests that AJIRI was founded to combat.
